Starr played for the Crimson Tide from 195256 where he not only played quarterback but played safety and was also responsible for punting. As a freshman Starr completed 8 out of 12 passes for 93 yards in a dominating 616 victory over Syracuse in the Orange Bowl. In the following year Starr threw eight touchdown passes and helped lead the Tide to a Cotton Bowl appearance with his arm and a little legwork. In the summer of 1956 the Green Bay Packers selected the 'Bama QB with their 199th selection but it wasn't until 1959 when firstyear coach Vince Lombardi named Starr the starting QB. The rest is history. Under Starrs leadership the Packers were a championship team winning five championships including the first two Super Bowls. He was the 1966 NFL MVP won two Super Bowl MVPs and was elected into the Hall of Fame in 1977.
